- The NW2 is a diesel-electric locomotive manufactured by GM-EMD in the United States.

- The NW1 was born by upgrading its engine from a Winton engine to an EMD-made engine.

- The N in the model name NW stands for 900 horsepower (nine hundred), and the W stands for welded flame. The NW2 has a different engine with 1,000 horsepower, but as it is an improved version of the NW1, we have kept the model name.

- The production period was from 1939 to 1949, and the number of cars produced was very large, reaching 1,145. - As a locomotive dedicated to yard shunting, it moved around the yard, connecting many passenger and freight cars.

- Because it was powerful and very easy to use, it was used under many road names and was in use until the early 1980s.

- Its exterior is characterized by an end cab, with the driver's seat located at one end of the vehicle, and two chimneys installed near the center of the hood.
