- 直到2005年，上越線澀川工廠一直使用工業鹽進行蘇打電解業務，並透過鐵路貨運從橫濱本牧站運輸工業鹽。

- 運輸過程中使用玻璃鋼（FRP）製鹽運輸容器。直到2003年，鹽都裝載在土岐25000型、虎70000型、虎145000型等敞篷車上，並運行約10節車廂的貨運專線列車。

- 由於敞篷車老化，自2003年起被敞篷貨櫃和工岐車取代，但隨著業務的結束，這些列車也停駛了。
