~ EF510-500系列為交流/直流電力機車，於2009年投入使用，用於取代JR東日本田畑車輛段的EF81型機車。 

~ EF81型機車曾用於牽引臥舖特快列車「北斗星」和「仙后座」以及貨運列車。

~ 系列共投入使用15台機車，其中13台為「北斗星」塗裝，車身藍色，飾以金色條紋和流星圖案；另2台為「仙后座」塗裝，車身銀色，飾以五彩流星圖案。

~ 這些機車於2010年投入運營，但隨著“北斗星”和“仙后座”列車停運，所有機車於2016年全部移交給JR貨運。
