- E3系列2000系列是山形新幹線列車，於2008年12月推出，取代400系列。

-由於該系列列車在傳統鐵路線上運行，因此其尺寸比普通新幹線列車小，並具有可伸縮踏板的特點。

- 在新幹線區段與E2、E5系列並列運行，最高時速可達275公里/小時。

- 首次推出時，它被漆成銀色，帶有灰色和綠色條紋，但在 2014 年 4 月，它被改為新的奶油色和紫色塗裝。

- 從 2023 年起，一列車將恢復其原始塗裝
