● H100系列是2019年開始商業營運的新型電動柴油車，旨在取代仍在北海道各地運行的Kiha 40系列。

● 2022年以後生產的部分新車將採用體現北海道各地區特色的車身裝飾。

● 該車設計為旅遊車，車廂內部設計與一般車廂不同，並配有可拆卸桌板的特殊規格。

● 這兩輛車主要運行於根室線（新得～釧路）和釧路根茂線（東釧路～網走）的普通列車，同時也在花咲線的客流高峰期作為臨時列車運行。
