~ N700S 是東海道/山陽新幹線公司在現有 N700 系列列車基礎上開發的新型列車。

~ 該系列列車的試驗車於 2018 年 3 月投入使用，並進行了各項測試。

~ 量產型列車以試驗車為基礎製造完成，並於 2020 年 7 月開始主要在希望號 (Nozomi) 列車上運行。
