●14係客車於1972年投入使用，配備固定車窗及簡易的傾斜座椅。

●「八甲田」特快列車於1961年日本國鐵時代投入運營，途經東北本線，連接上野和青森。

●儘管許多特快列車因東北新幹線開通等變革而停運或降級為特快列車，但「八甲田」列車在日本國鐵私有化後仍作為普通列車運營至1993年。
●「MOTO列車」於1986年投入使用，方便攜帶摩托車的乘客往返於上野和函館之間。在上野和青森之間，它與“八甲田”列車連接運行。
●1988年青函隧道開通後，八甲田號列車與MOTO列車一起，抵達青森後繼續作為「海峽」特快列車運行，前往函館。
