●E231-800系は2003年に登場した中央・総武線の東京メトロ東西線乗り入れに対応した専用車両です

●この車両は209-1000系をベースとしながらも、ドアコックの配置違いや車外スピーカーの設置など、随所に209-1000系との差異があり、この細かな違いが同車の見どころでもあります

●また、ラインカラーも中央・総武線を表すカナリアイエローではなく、誤乗防止の観点から乗り入れ先である東京メトロ東西線のラインカラーであるセルリアンブルーにインディゴブルーを採用した点も大きな特徴です

●現在同車は制御機器の更新、LED灯への交換などが行われ東京メトロ東西線経由にて三鷹・中野～西船橋・津田沼間で7編成が活躍中です
